The Complete Guide to Preventive Health Check-Ups in Sanur: Digitizing Your Health on Holiday

What a full preventive check-up in Bali actually includes — 55+ biomarkers, hormones, cardiac and body-composition screening — and how Sanur makes it painless.

There’s a strange gap in most people’s lives: we service our cars every year and our bodies almost never. A preventive check-up closes that gap — and Sanur, of all places, has quietly become one of the easiest places in the world to do it well.

Standard check-up vs. preventive optimization panel

A typical annual physical is designed to catch disease that’s already knocking: it looks for the obvious. A preventive, optimization-focused check-up asks a different question — how well is this body running, and where is it heading?

The difference is the panel. Instead of a handful of markers, you measure dozens, and you read them against optimal ranges, not just “not-yet-sick” ranges. A cholesterol result that’s “normal” for a 50-year-old population may be a warning sign for someone trying to add healthy decades.

What’s inside a full Sanur check-up

On our retreat, the diagnostic block runs across Days 2–3 at the international hospital campus. A complete panel typically includes:

Blood — 55+ biomarkers

  • Full lipid panel including ApoB (a better cardiac-risk marker than standard cholesterol)
  • Fasting glucose and HbA1c (three-month blood-sugar average)
  • Liver, kidney and full blood count
  • Inflammation markers (hs-CRP)
  • Iron studies, ferritin, vitamin D and key micronutrients

Hormones

  • Testosterone, estrogen, DHEA
  • Cortisol (the stress hormone) and its daily rhythm
  • Full thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4)

Instrumental screening

  • VO2 Max cardiopulmonary test
  • Body composition (DEXA / InBody) — lean mass, visceral fat, bone density
  • Cardiac screening; advanced imaging (calcium score, MRI) available on request

How much does a check-up in Bali cost?

Standalone, a classic hospital screening in Bali starts around $200; an executive panel with imaging runs $450 and up. Home/villa blood draws through accredited labs are cheaper and remarkably convenient. Compared to a comparable executive physical in Australia, the US or Singapore — often $1,500–4,000 — the value is stark, at the same laboratory standard (many Bali labs partner with Singaporean and Australian reference facilities).

On the retreat, the entire diagnostic block, including hormones, VO2 Max and the Day-13 re-test, is built into the package price — so there’s no à-la-carte anxiety.

The Sanur logistics advantage

The genuinely novel part is the geography. Sanur’s health special economic zone puts an international hospital minutes from beachfront resorts, linked by electric shuttles. That means:

  • Fasted blood draw at 7 a.m., breakfast by the ocean at 9
  • No queues — appointments are pre-booked and sequenced
  • Results in English, digital and printed, usable by your doctor at home
  • Zero clinical-tourism friction — the medicine slots into a holiday rhythm

The number that makes it stick: the re-test

Any clinic can hand you a PDF of results. Almost none re-test you two weeks later. Ours does — on Day 13 — so you see your delta after fourteen days of protocol. That before/after, documented in your health passport, is what converts “interesting data” into a decision you’ll actually act on.

Where to go next

Once you have the numbers, the next question is what do they mean? Start with understanding your blood biomarkers, then see how diagnostics anchor the full health check-up module and the 14-day program.

Educational only, not medical advice. All diagnostics on the retreat are performed and interpreted by licensed medical institutions and physicians in Bali.
